Oh the weather outside is…perfect for curling up with un libro!

Attention, Richmonders and those affected by our first major tormenta de nieve of 2016! If you are a student of Spanish and stuck inside for the weekend, why not curl up by the fire (or by a virtual fire) with un buen libro? Here is one list of the best books of 2015, per Spanish newspaper El País.

Even if you are at an intermediate level of Spanish, give them a try! Some tips:

  • Don’t look up every word you don’t know. If you do, you’ll never finish! Try and use context clues to determine unknown words.
  • Look for translations. Some books are translations of English or are translated into English as well. Find them and read both!
  • Make reading a group effort. Have your spouse, family member, or friend read the English version while you read the Spanish, and discuss each chapter. That will help with things you didn’t notice or understand!

Enjoy the snow, and enjoy your books! ¡Disfruten de la nieve y también de la lectura!
